Disabling the icons in the menu bar ("File, Edit, View...Help" menus)

Yes, those informative icons that appear next to basic commands like Open (a Manilla folder!), Exit (a power symbol!), Paragraph, Styles and Formatting, Spelling and Grammar and the many, many others. Is there a built in option to disable them? I am set against them, because–to me anyway–they do not fit in with the aesthetics of traditional Windows applications, where native applications use menu bars that are text only.

Note: I am not referring to toolbars but the text menu above them, which have text drop down menus.

Yes, you can disable them.

Go to Tools > Options > LibreOffice, View and change the option “Icons in menus” from Automatic to Hide

Tools | Options | LibreOffice | View | Menu section | Icons in menus - set to Hide.

P.S. You can also change the icons (menu and toolbar) in the same dialog above User Interface | Icon size and style. I prefer using Galaxy style but there are also other, try them out if you like some other styles.
