how do i set default save format in libreoffice for mac

On Windows or Linux I can set Libre to save to Microsoft formats by default (for lower-end users who need to share files with others who need this). I can’t find a place to do that in v 6x LibreOffice for Mac. I find nothing in “help”. There is no “options” under Tools or “Preferences” under File.

To access the LibreOffice options, use keyboard shortcut ⌘, (Command+Comma) or menu LibreOffice → Preferences.

There is no facility to change to docx/xlsx/etc on Macos version. It always defaults to odp/etc.
Looks like no code to do so (a la Windows version)

Where did you get that information from? See LibreOffice -> Preferences -> Load/Save -> General -> Section: Default File Format and ODF Settings on macOS. Just checked on

Version: 6.3.4.2, Build ID: 60da17e045e08f1793c57c00ba83cdfce946d0aa
CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.15.1; UI render: default; VCL: osx;
Locale: en-US (en_GB.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US, Calc: threaded

But anyway: I strongly recommend to not change to foreign formats (see this site about problems caused by improper workflows and use of foreign formats).
