Paste list of numbers separated by paragraph breaks directly into Writer table rows all at once?

MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 / Libreoffice 6.2.5.2.

I have a list of numbers separated by paragraph breaks like so:

12

23

34

45

56 etc.

Note: there is only one paragraph break between each number in the actual document- I added two here in order to illustrate the appearance of my number list, as otherwise the numbers won’t display in a top-to-bottom list on this website.

I want to copy/paste this list directly into writer table row cells, so that each two-digit number is in its own row/cell (eg. “12” is in row 1 (cell A1), “23” is in row 2 (Cell A2) etc.), all at once/without having to copy/paste each number individually.
I remember having done this once in the past but can’t recall how it was done- some kind of Paste Special? The options in Paste Special dialog didn’t prove to be much use here…

Cheers.

To get this appearance i had to type two (at least) ordinary spaces behind each number before entering a linebreak. (That’s the same with text.)

12
23
34
45
56

Without the extra spaces you get it using the tool ‘preformatted text’. Mouse over the respective icon you get also informed that you can use Ctrl+K.

  1. Paste your list as normal text where you want the table to appear
  2. Select the list
  3. Table>Convert>Text to Table and set the parameters to fit your case
