In LO writer, can I make 10000 to automatically convert to 10,000?

In Indian number system format, like

100
1,000
10,000
1,00,000
10,00,000 ....... and so on.

While solving accounting problems, this can heavily reduce my time.

After a google search, I learned about Tools > Options > Language Setting. I tried to change and see it really separates the numbers after I type; sadly it doesn’t do anything. What should I do? What wrong?

Writer, being a document processor, is not well suited for automatic formatting of lakh and crore. You can do that easily in Calc which is primarily number oriented with powerful formatting primitives.

If your format conversion is only to take place inside Writer tables, this can be done like it is in Calc.

Create your table. Enable Table>Number Recognition and “type” the cells with Table>Number Format. Design a new format under Number or Currency category. Format code will be ##,##,##,##,##0.00 with or without currency sign. Put as many ##, groups at head as needed.

BEWARE! From my test, if you erase cell content to type another value, you seem to lose the formatting.
