Hello
My question is in the title:

In LibreOffice, how do I clear the recently used font name list (drop-down menu)? See attached screenshot

I have not found ANY answer on internet? But maybe I do not search properly…
Thanks beforehand!
Best regards
Jean

Afaik the list is cleared as soon as you close LibreOffice completely (seems to be in memory and not stored in any configuration file).

The list is not cleared in either Writer or Calc, even when opening a blank (fresh) document after shutting down LibreOffice and the computer (as in reboot), in my version (v6.0.7.3). I believe this behaviour is actually good, although it would be nice to be able to clear the list occasionally as an option.

The list is definitely NOT cleared (version: 6.0.7.3) in Ubuntu 18.04.4
Yes in a way this is good… But… it would be nice to be able to clear it!
So does this mean it is not possible?

Hello,

the list is stored in file $HOME/.config/libreoffice/4/user/config/fontnameboxmruentries. Hence you need to (in this order):

  • Stop LibreOffice application
  • Delete the file

Note If you delete the file before you stop LibreOffice the file will be recreated from memory

( sorry for my wrong comment above, made a test, list was cleared and wrote my comment and now can’t explain why this happened)

Tested using LibreOffice:

Version: 6.4.2.2; Build ID: 4e471d8c02c9c90f512f7f9ead8875b57fcb1ec3
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.12; UI render: default; VCL: kf5;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US; Calc: threaded

Excellent! This is exactly what I was looking for!
I am now able

  • either to delete the file $HOME/.config/libreoffice/4/user/config/fontnameboxmruentries
  • either to open it with a text editor, and modify it!
    Excellent!
    Thank you so much!
