Is it possible to get LibreOffice Calc to remember the last selected Border format? EI when selecting Borders from the icon menu bar. This would be helpful IE time saving.
If not, can ‘the team’ incorporate this into a future release?
I do not clearly understand what you want, but anyway if you miss something, you should submit a request at Bugzilla. Otherwise, it will never be implemented.
This is an excel toolbar button function that saves time when you want to repeat the last border format you selected. When you click the button, it does not show the border options, but just applies the last one you selected. When you click the down-arrow to the right of the button, it allows you to select and apply one of the border options shown. The selected border option then is displayed in the border toolbar button image. Is there a similar function in LibreOffice? I had the same question and suggestion as above and found this Question with a google search.
LibreOffice remebers the last action. You can repeat it. The shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+Y by default. Changing the selection is not an action in this sense.
Therefore you can change the selection interim and repeat the previous setting of attributes for the new selection in addition (if applicable). Calc does it mostly in a reasonably smart way if the new range has different dimensions.
In Calc you can also copy (Ctrl+C) the range you applied settings to, select a different range, and then call Paste Special... (Ctrl+Shift+V). You are prompted for a selection of Content/Property types. Choose Formats only - OK. Done! (The above mentioned “smartness” is reduced when going this way.)
Basically: Calc isn’t Excel. The recommended way to apply attributes to cells is to avoid it. ?? Yes. You should better define named cell styles and assign them to ranges wherever possible. Only rare exceptions should justify direct setting of cell attributes. (The PivotTable-tool does e.g.)
Of course, we need to accept hat there aren’t yet CellRange styles - and that most likely such a thing never will be. The experiments concerning quasi-styles for TextTable in Writer aren’ too ecouraging, imo. However, the design of a complete table for a prettyprint sheet should be seen as unique anyway.
