Suggestion: Writer Cross-Reference

 Win 7-64
Version: 6.3.5.2 (x64)

I have several requests/suggestion wrt the Writer Cross-References:

  1. Deletion. A way to directly delete a cross-reference from the table, with an option to delete all references from the body of the document, or to change the reference to text. Right now I delete the referenced text from the document, then reenter the text and the cross-reference.

2: Value: A means to insert arbitrary text in the value field. That is, If the value field is X, I would like to change it to Y. The reason is that when the reference is inserted, the inserted “value” is the text contained in the value field. In my case, the value text is in a table, the full name of the value text is "title text’ and not just “text”. I would like to insert “title text” instead of “text”.

3: Allow the value field text to be searched. If the value field is X then references to X can no be searched in the document using ctl-F (find). This means that if in the body of the text there is both an X and an inserted value field containing X, the inserted value field can not be searched but the text X can be.

4: A means to modify the name field. The Help File(3) says “Set the options that you want then click OK” which only applies the the “Insert reference to” items. What is wanted is a means to change tne reference name field. Using the ubiquitous X as the reference name, I would like to change it to Y. At the moment, this requires a delete of the reference base (see 1. above). This deletes the reference from the saved references. Retyping the same text and doing a Set Reference allows another name to be used. It would be handy if the Name field could just be changed.

Thanks. This is a great product.
