Marking an answer as correct or upvoting an answer (or both) is a common method. See -> How to use the Ask site

A simple Thank You in a comment is typically well received.

Hi Ratslinger, do you have any info on text formatting in the ask forum? eg. "Thank You" in the red box?

Most formatting can be done using the toolbar available when posting a question, answer or comment. The highlighting I used was done by surrounding text with back ticks.
