PDF form default data doesn't print in Win10 Edge

When I create a PDF form with default text in the fields, it works fine using most PDF readers. Using Windows Edge the default data shows up on screen exactly as it should. But, when you print the form the fields are blank. Sometimes (usually?) if you edit or add to the default text, it will cause the entire field to show up when printed.

The form seems to work with PDFStudio (Linux), Atril (Linux), Foxit (Win10) and Acrobat Reader (Win10), but not with Edge (which is the default PDF viewer for a vanilla Windows 10 installation).

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?

Isn’t it obvious that this issue should be filed against Edge: “This PDF behaves correctly with all PDF readers (including Adobe’s), but not with yours”?

I agree that it’s probably a bug in Edge — yet forms from other sources seem to work fine with Edge. I thought LibreOffice users might want to be able to generate forms that work with the default Windows PDF viewer. If not, feel free to ignore my question.
