In LibreOffice Writer I used Insert > Object > Formula, and went looking for an integral sign. I found the right group, but the scrolling was extremely slow, so I tried to drag the scrollbar using my laptop touchpad, but I must have missed the scrollbar. The next thing I saw was a blank window where the dialog should be. It can be expanded or compacted vertically, and remains empty. I closed the document I was working in, and didn’t save, hoping the problem would go away, but as I tried to create a formula in another document I had open, I found the same thing happening. I have no clue as to what happened, or how to get back to normal.

Thank you Opaque, that did the trick. I would never have guessed it had anything to do with a user profile (or that one such existed).
