Moving a row up or down to another position(Mac Version of Calc)

I find I cannot move a row by selecting the whole row (by clicking on the row or record number). So, I select all the data in that row, click on the selected row and press Option. Usually, I can move the data into a new position between rows, but the original entry remains> Is there any way that one can drag and drop a row completely, so that the information is in the new row and NOT in the old one?

What about simple drag-and-drop without pressing any key (i.e. Option)?

May be you just missed to move the mouse pointer slightly to the right (hover over the cell of the selected row) before you drag & drop.

JohnSUN: When I drag and drop, i overwrite the entry to which I drag and drop the data. I was hoping to insert the new data to the new row and delete the material in the old row.

Opaque: That is right, but does not delete the material from which I drew the information to be inserted between the rows in the new spot.

I think we have need of a new feature – moving a row from one place to another, completely, including deleting the row from which the information was dragged.an inserting it above or below the row to which the material is being dragged. e.g. row 14 is moved to row 2, deleting old row 14 and inserting it above row 2.

Here:

fn control option are the keys to hold down while dragging and dropping to move and insert rows or columns in Open Office Calc on a Mac!

Is it wrong?

JohnSUN: Holding down ctrl and option while dragging a row to be inserted between two other rows still leaves the original row intact.

Sorry - still not possible - look here and links there (see dates of messages! OMG!)
