Writer: Page numbering with leading number 01, 02, 03

Hi, I would like to add the automatic page numbering in the footer with a leading number as in: page 01, 02, 03

When outlined to the right side of the page, the current default makes the page numbering (and any text in front of it) shift to the left when it goes from page 9 to page 10. This is noticable when running through for example a PDF document. I realize it’s a matter of styling preferences, but to me it’s really annoying.

You tagged footnote. Have you the same issue with footnotes?

Padding numbering is implemented in upcoming version 7.0. That is not limited to lists, but e.g. to page number fields, too.

If you experience such “shift”, you probably align and format your footer with space characters.

By default, header and footer are respectively formatted by paragraph styles Header and Footer (how surprising!)

These styles come with default tab stops set in the middle and right of the page (within the margin-cleared area). This allows you to have three segments of text:

  • initial text is aligned left on the left margin
  • after a Tab character, text is center-aligned in the middle
  • after a second Tab character, text is right-aligned on the right margin.

Consequently your footer could look like :

 Title or author <tab ><tab> <Page number field>

There is presently no way to define custom field format but the afore described method avoids your inconvenience.
