Tab not following activation order

Hi,

I’m new to LibreOffice Base (using version 6.4.3.2 x64). I need to create forms where when I hit tab it follows a certain order. I’ve read online on the subject and found that activation should do the trick.

I set an activation order in Edit mode, turn off Edit mode and it works. However, if I close the form and reopen it the activation order doesn’t follow what I told it to. I’ve since created multiple forms and the problem showed in all of them. Most of them have more than 20 fields to fill.

I’ve tried to replicate the problem with a simple form of 7 fields and the problem didn’t happen. I’m a bit at lost here, I wasn’t able to find any documentation on this issue online. The only sort of solution I could find was to activate autofocusing, however here again it doesn’t follow my activation order, it just makes less random.

I also tried to create a form using the wizard. Tab order works fine there unless I start moving fields around and creating my custom activation order the problems presents itself again.

Is there anything I’m missing? Should I recreate my forms from scratch?

Hello,

See this answer for possibility → L.O. 6.4.1.2 (x64) - Base - is there a known bug with the tab/activation order?

After more testing on my side, I’ve figuered that the fields need to be visible on screen to be able to tab to them for a time. After the field was accessed once it does not need to be on screen anymore to follow the correct order. Is there a reason for that?

@jeremy1234,

Your question:

After the field was accessed once it does not need to be on screen anymore to follow the correct order. Is there a reason for that?

Based upon your statement it appears you have not looked at the link I provided. In that link this is what was mentioned. That answer also contains another link to what was reported.

I’ve looked throught the links, I might have miscommunicated my thoughts though. I was more curious how if it was more a feature or just the lingering bug. Should I just leave another comment in the bug ticket instead?

I do not see this as a feature but a problem. Leaving another comment will provide feedback as to there being more affected by the problem.
