I kind of got here by mistake.

I have no idea how to log in and am afraid now to let the page close since I don’t know how to get back here, how to look for answers to my questions, etc.
There should be a log in button in the top right, at least that’s where the sing out button is for me.
Signing up should only require an email verification.
top looks like this:

is a sign out button but I don’t see any log in button, have no idea how I got here in the first place.

If you log out, the sign in button will disappear and you’ll see a link labeled Hi there! Please sign in Click on that link, and enter your username and password.
You don’t need to login anywhere to use any LO component (Writer, Calc, …).
