I have recently installed LibreOffice (via Penguin llnux) on my new Chromebook.
When I try to save my work to a USB pendrive I am unable to because the media is flagged as read-only.
No problem saving the same file to other Chromebook file systems.
I would love to know how to save directly to an attached pendrive, please.

This sounds like a Chrome OS question, not LO.
How do I turn off read only on Chromebook? To change the read-only attribute, follow these steps:

Right-click the file or folder icon.

Remove the check mark by the Read
Only item in the file’s Properties
dialog box. The attributes are found
at the bottom of the General tab. -
Click OK.

Unfortunately I can see no Properties dialogue box when I try to action Step 2 above.
I presume you can’t copy anything to the drive from the file manager?
- Does the USB drive have a mechanical switch for Read-only? SD cards have them.
- Is it formatted for Mac? Chrome OS can read the Mac HFS+ file system, but it can’t write to it
- Could be failing USB drive

Thanks again Earnest Al - the USB drive (formatted FAT32) is in daily use on my desktop Linux system with no problems. It is only when I try to use it from my Chromebook that I get the ‘read-only’ error.
