LibreOffice 7.0.3 Stop Accepting Input

Running the latest LO 7.0.3 on Windows 10 64 bit version 2004 fully patched as of today. After I have a LO writer document open for a few minutes LO stops taking keystroke input. My keyboard is fine in all other apps, so it’s not a hardware issue. I don’t know what is causing it but LO doesn’t crash and the rest of the interface is still responsive – I just can’t type. Well, it’s back to VI for me. JK!

OK I TRIED AGAIN TODAY:

I uninstalled and re downloaded, checked the hash and reinstalled. I then reset my user profile as below:

Start LibreOffice
Start in Safe Mode using Help -> Restart in Safe Mode and confirm the restart using button: Restart
Archive your profile expanding Advanced (click on the word Advanced right above Help button) and click Archive User Profile button
Select option Reset to factory settings
Activate [x] Reset entire user profile
Click button Apply Changes and Restart

I’m still having the problem after about 10 minutes, LO Writer will no longer accept keyboard input. =(

With me, everything works to my satisfaction with the same operating system and LO version.

Does the top line of the window show “No response”?

And what does your task manager say? (Call with: Ctrl+Alt+Del)

With me:

Still NOT working. As I said in the post above, it doesn’t become unresponsive at all. It remains running and doesn’t crash, it just doesn’t accept any typed input. LibreOffice in Task Manager shows nearly identical to what you have listed above. It is low CPU, RAM, etc. Either way it is still not working…

After I have a LO writer document open for a few minutes LO stops

  • Where is LibreOffice installed?
  • Is it a big document?
  • Are there many pictures in the document?
  • In which file format is the document saved?
  • Where is the document stored (hard disk, cloud, etc)?
  • Does it also happen with a new document?
  • What is the utilization of the storage medium on which your document is stored?
  • Where is LibreOffice installed? Default location
  • Is it a big document? No, it’s a new document with only a few keystrokes in it.
  • Are there many pictures in the document? No
  • In which file format is the document saved? ODF
  • Where is the document stored (hard disk, cloud, etc)? Local hard drive
  • Does it also happen with a new document? Yes, and ALL others.
  • What is the utilization of the storage medium on which your document is stored? It’s a 1TB SSD and I’m using about 10% so I have plenty of storage.

Doesn’t seem to be an issue on my machine because no other application exhibit this problem.

Thanks for your answers.

Since it works for me with the same operating system and LibreOffice version, I assume that it is a problem on your system.

And you’ve already tested save mode, which hasn’t helped.

Shut down your PC system. Make sure that all connections have the correct contact.

Reboot and test.

Unfortunately I can’t give you more advice.

Maybe another user can help you here.

But since it does not seem to be a LibreOffice problem, it is not very likely.

Nevertheless I wish you good luck.

What? How is that helpful!?

It isn’t a problem on my machine, we can be sure of that. I’ve detailed the fact that it isn’t in all previous posts. This kind of ‘help’ in the forums isn’t helpful. It’s a bug and I’ll file a bug report.

Yes, you can do that:
