PDF is opening in Writer instead of Draw. Help?

I have LibreOffice Vanilla on a MacBook. When I try to open a PDF, it opens in Writer instead of Draw. Even if I open the file from Draw, it still opens in Writer. It looks like a bunch of boxes and question marks. How do I fix this?

Possible reasons:

  • The PDF file is damaged
  • The file has not PDF type really
  • Your LibreOffice is broken

Can you upload/share a sample file here to check the reasons?

Or you can check your LibreOffice by opening an another PDF file,
and you can check the PDF file in an another LO on an another computer.

Thanks for your reply! I tried it with another pdf and it does the same thing. I don’t have access to another computer with LO, so I can’t check that. I think the problem is with LO. Are there any settings I can check?

“I don’t have access to another computer with LO,”

Then please upload one of the problematic PDF files here. (or share a link to a free file sharing service, where you uploaded the file to share)

It won’t allow me to attach a pdf in the post. Here is a link to where I got the sample pdf though.

Your linked PDF file opens in the Draw application with my LO 6.2.8, (and in portable LO 6.4.5, LO6.4.6, LO 7.0.0) on Windows10x64 Prof.

I have exactly the same problem. I try to import a PDF with Draw, but the Write opens it with a bunch of Japanese fonts. And it doesn’t recognise pictures.

Please, answers only from who have been trough this problem. It’s not a problem of the PDF, or with the computer. It’s a real bug. (already checked).

I can open the PDF with draw in the installed version, but not with the Vanilla App. I’m very disappointed because I paid for this app and it doesn’t work.
