Sound File Playback Corruption

I have added sound files to a calc document. I can play the files. I can’t find a way to edit them. Each one I add has to be adjusted for size and other parameters. Rather than repeat that for every one, it would be nice to copy a configured icon and then change the file it points to. It would also be nice to change the icon.

Then there is the issue of corruption of the playback. The sound file is played properly, but I used the position control in the toolbar and now every icon plays back first the entire file, then each time shorter portions of the file until it won’t play, then finally it plays the entire file again repeating this process.

I’ve tried deleting the sound files and adding them back, closing the file and even restarting Libre Office. The same starting position corruption continues to happen. Is this feature not really working?

  • What OS are you using?
  • What LO Version are you using?
  • What type of soundfile are use using mp2/3 / wav / ogg / opus ?
  • What is the size of the file?
  • Could you attach an example file? (so we can check the playback issues)

Windows 10,
Version: 6.0.4.2 (x64)

CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default;
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: group

.wav files 16 to 100 kbytes

I don’t see a way to upload a file here. Try this URL

The playback issue is about using the position control. Before I used that the files played back fine.

I also see various corruption of the display. As I resize the view the icons will leave copies of them selves scattered around the screen.

I updated to rev 7.0.1.2 and it seems to be working much better. The play sound feature is nice. I just wish it could be played by clicking the icon and it would be nice if the icons could be tailored by the user.

But it is working for now which is a big improvement. I guess I should update more often than once a year.

I’ve used this a bit more and even under the newer revision I see the same ghosting of the icons. Any idea what that is about? When I select an icon so that I can then play the sound, a second copy of the icon shows up somewhere around the first icon. I have a small array of icons inserted in my diagram and if I click on several of these icons I end up with a bunch of copies of the icons. Very odd and disruptive to viewing the diagram.
