Can I open new document next to exsisting document?

I want to open an existing document in writer and in a side by side view open a new blank document is this even possible? Using Windows !0 OS and LibreOffice 7.0.

See How to do side-by-side editing of 2 different files in Writer?

Grab the title bar of the window of one of the documents and drag it to one side of the screen, release it when your cursor is at the side of the screen. The window will resize to exactly half the screen. Drag the other window to the other side of the screen.

I am in the habit of always editing the right hand pane, it saves accidentally overwriting the document you wanted untouched.

As a useful extra you can also have two views of the same document open side by side: Window > new window.

Cheers, Al

Thanks for the two answers.

Just open both files and place by mouse one window to left part of your screen and second window to right part of the screen
