How do you disassociate objects?

I’m trying to place 4 objects (with text) along the top of my slides, each of which correpsonds to sections within my presentation.

As any one slide will only correspong to one section, i want to have the other 3 objects transparant with greyed out text, and then as my presentation progresses these objects change to no transparancy and white text as i move onto their respective sections.

When I try and create these objects, all of them are affected by the edit style command. I can’t find a way to disasocciate them from eachother so i can edit each object individually.

Thanks,

Joe

It is the purpose of “Edit style” that all objects, which have assigned this style will change automatically when the style is changed. If you want objects to behave different, then you need to define different styles for them.

You can use one of the existing graphic styles as parent to carry the common settings, for example font size. Open the Styles and Formatting Window (F11) and right click the style you want to use as parent. You will see an item “New”. In the Organizer tab you give a new name to the new style, for example “active item” and “inactive item” respectively, and on the other tabs you set the properties accordingly.

When you are finished defining the styles, you click on the object, so that it has resize handles, and then you double-click the new style in the Styles and Formatting Window to assign it to the object. If the object does not follow the style, then there might be some hard formatting on the object. Remove that by Format > Default Formatting.

If you have put the objects on the master page, then you need a different master page for each section.
