I was given a notification that there was an update available for LibreOffice, but after downloading this, the program would not open and I got an error message “VCRUNTIME140_1.dll not found” and that reinstalling the program might work. I tried this several different ways … reinstalling, repairing, uninstalling and then reinstalling, redownloading, redownloading from a different browser in case the first one I used did not download the file correctly … nothing worked. The program still will not open and I am still getting the same error message. What is the fix for this?

install the latest supported Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019 from here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads (most probably you need vc_redist.x64.exe (Windows 64-bit)
