AskLibO: How many "karma" are required for …? 2020

CAVEAT: This topic was a summary of the privilege thresholds for the previous instance of AskLO site driven by the AskBot engine. It does not apply to present site driven by the Discourse engine. It is kept for historical and archival purpose.

If you hover the mouse pointer over your user’s karma points (next to your user name at the top), it will show a list beggining with: “Currently, you can: …”

Following @manj_k (last seen 2014-12-01) work, and with partial (and incorrect) data from this site faq, I am trying to collect an updated list of allowed activities according to user’s karma.

I can see some differences, some of which I can’t solve yet:

• I can’t see that 3 is a threshold.
• Don’t know if with a 5 karma I can “Answer own question immediately”.
• Don’t know if with a 20 karma I can “Accept own answer to own questions”, or can “Accept own answer” to anyone questions.
• Don’t know if with a 25 karma I can “Close own questions”.
• Don’t know if with a 50 karma I can “Reopen own questions”.

Maybe people in the infra team could tell. They “recently” installed an updated version of AskBot. This means they have access to the configuration file. This karma thing is a configuration matter. Then try to contact infra.

We didn’t, AskBot deployment and maintenance is taken care of by AskBot upstream. But you’re right that it’s a configuration matter and the infra team has access to it

I don’t think we need to remove anything. Just mark as “for older version of the site; not applicable now”, or the like.

A few users kindly shared with me the list that corresponded to they karma. I created a new user (that I later deleted) to see the list for karma 1.

With this data I created a double entry box. 1, 5 and 200 are confirmed data.

Gray is for no-threshold karma values.

If you participate in more than one language in the ask.libreoffice.org site, it seems that you will need to add all karma values and subtract from the total 1 for each additional language.

Any comment and shared “Currently, you can: …” list, are welcomed.

• Insert link suggestions as plain text (this value should be smaller
  than that for “insert clickable links”. This setting should stop
  link-spamming by newly registered users): 1
• Retag questions posted by other people: 50
• Edit community wiki posts: 75
• Edit posts authored by other people: 200
• View offensive flags: 200
• Close and reopen questions: 200
• Remove rel=nofollow from own homepage (when a search engine crawler
  will see a rel=nofollow attribute on a link - the link will not count
  towards the rank of the users personal site): 25
• Make posts by email: 100
• Trigger email notifications (users with smaller reputation will not be
  generating email alerts): 15
• Trigger tweets on others accounts (reduces spam): 15

That is, all settings are at their current default value except “upload files”.
