Change default for table caption

Dear all…

I’ve little problem, but it’s kinda frustating…

can i change the default for caption, eg. “Table 3.x” into “Table III.x”? but Heading must keep number “3.x blblblb” not “III.x blblblb”

thx…

Just wondering why would anyone want to do that? Doesn’t this add unnecessary confusion?

It is not clear to me what is being attempted. How are the captions and headings related? Is “heading” a reference to the corresponding table of contents entry?

@oweng, if document uses outline numbering (headings have automatic numbering), then table numbers, figurenumbers etc can have chapter number in front of these, e.g figures 3.1 and 3.2 are first two figures in chapter 3. The OP wants to use roman numbers in table captions and arabic numbers in headers which is not possible in Writer.

This is not possible in Writer. Numbering everything manually is always an option but I wouldn’t call it a workaround. Use LaTeX, if this is really needed.

It is somewhat ironic that by changing the outline numbering from 1,2,3 to I,II,III it is possible to get the opposite: captions using arabic numerals for chapters (by separately inserting the chapter number field), while the chapters themselves are in uppercase Roman numerals.

Hey, that’s interesting, never tried it that way
