Is there any version of Libre office for Windows 8- 64 bit PC ? It would be good if we have that.
The question should also be obsolete, now already or within a short time: Starting with the Alpha and Beta prereleases and since 5.0,0.5 (2015-07-26) being the first released version of the 5.x family there was a 64 bit build for Win in addition to the 32-bit build. The present support for still versions will surely not include porting to Win 64.

But you can download LibreOffice 32-bit code and install on Windows 64-bit from: https://www.libreoffice.org/download
Major benefit of 64-bit software is to use more then 2 GB of memory. So are you using some very large office files or is there any other need to have 64-bit software.
I am using large files and am about to pull my hair out because I can’t get anything done without LibreOffice Calc hanging.
@dani, see about giving Calc higher priority. If your CPU ain’t over 6 years old, you should be able to give it realtime, cuz the newer CPU the less it freezes on realtime processes.
Is there any news? The difference between Windows and Linux is substantial–for no good reason. I cannot overstate the necessity of a 64 bit build when composing very large documents, (including appendices with many-paged attachments), This is required in Academic and Legal Writing. I just composed a Master document with 15 attached appendices, ending at 300+ pages, crawling on Windows, but fine on Linux – using the same machine/hardware.
I cannot install LibreOffice on a laptop running Windows 10. The error suggests that I talk to the developer and ask for a 64 bit version of the product.
On that note, it is not a matter performance nor file size. It seems that the 64 bit version is now a must to have. Unless someone has a workaround to get the installation done on Windows 10.
You must have something odd going on your system @jm as I’ve been running LibreOffice on my Windows 10 machine since I installed the Technical Preview last September. I haven’t tried installing the official release of LO5 yet. But, I’ve been running the LO4.4.x branch successfully.
I use LibreOffice Version 4.0.1.2 Writer on a Win8 64-bit PC. It usually hangs after about 5 minutes of use, often dragging Windows down with it. I’m assuming that it’s trying to do some sort of background update check.
This morning, I was editing a tiny one-page text-only file (just updating some copy for a web page), yet Task Manager (when it finally woke up) showed LibreOffice using 1.2GB of RAM out of the 2GB installed.
When LibreOffice eventually came back up, it was still using just over 1GB, for the same tiny file (12kB).
This can’t be right!
Try updating to LO 4.2.6-secfix as a stable version to see if it fixes the problem.
No reason to use as ancient LO as 4.0.1.2 [except to read a dropped file format], just pull the latest Fresh or RC, with RC the priority if one exists.
In case of performance problems possibly due to memory issues you might also give a try to changing the ‘Memory’ options. In specific for large files the ‘Undo’ cache for up to 100 steps may use a huge amount of memory and may even fall back on swapping. (No profound knowledge, just guessing!) On the other hand enlarging the praphics cache may improve performance under some conditions.

The LibreOffice download page has: “torrent” and “info” links. The info link will provide the Hashes to verify the download file, (PGP, SHA, MD5, Torrent, etc).
Other websites do have their own links, but personally I feel a bit more comfortable downloading updates, etc, and verifying hashes from the LibreOffice site.
