Can I use the install to upgrade from a previous version of LibreOffice?

want to install the latest version but not certain the install will recognize earlier installed version.

Hello,

just install the new version - there is no need to remove the current version in advance. Just be aware, if you are on Linux and if you are using TDF packages from libreoffice.org and you change the major release version (i.e. from 5.x → 6.x/7.x, or 6.x → 7.x) you’ll get both releases in /opt. In this case: If you don’t want that: Remove the old version first.

And in advance: Don't worry about your configuration settings and/or your documents. If you used standards to save your documents (i.e. not using installation directories to store documents or any other strange path settings), then uninstall and new install won't affect neither your existing nor your exiting configuration (though it sometimes may be required to reset you configuration settings, i.e. your *[LibreOffice user profile](https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile)* to factory settings.

Hope that helps
