I cannot override the formula set. I want to put in a fraction in a column and keeps going to date mode.
Have your number as a a normal decimal then select the cell and click Format > Cells > Numbers > Fraction and select the formatting that you want. Cheers, Al

How do you enter a fraction - are you using =m/n? If yes, and that turns to a date due to your date acceptance pattern (see Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages -> Option: date acceptance pattern containing something like D/M or M/D), then
- just press
CTRL+Mimmediately after that happens - and/or - change your date acceptance pattern to not contain
D/MorM/D
