windows 10 document recovery failed

I got a new PC running Windows 10 and just downloaded LibreOffice.

Now, every time I open a document (writer, or calc or whatever) I get a DOCUMENT RECOVERY window with STATUS that says NOT RECOVERED YET.

When I click on START I get a RED X that says RECOVERY FAILED.

When I click on FINISH the document opens satisfactorily.

This happens all the same. The same document or any document.

On my old PC, when I clicked on START, it would come back and say RECOVERY SUCCESSFUL and all would be well with that document forever.

I did a REPAIR install but that did not help.

Any help please?

Turn off autorecovery and learn to save your work every ten minutes or so.

Hello,

this seems to be a problem in file registrymodifications.xcu in your LibreOffice user profile, which contains recovery information and which cannot be deleted from that file. Suggesting to reset your LibreOffice user profile

Attention Create a copy of your document under another name before you follow this procedure:

To reset the user profile perform:

  • Start LibreOffice
  • Start in Safe Mode using Help -> Restart in Safe Mode and confirm the restart using button: Restart
  • Archive your profile expanding Advanced (click on the word Advanced right above Help button) and click Archive User Profile button
  • Select option Reset to factory settings
  • Activate [x] Reset entire user profile
  • Click button Apply Changes and Restart

Hope that fixes your issue.

It appears that worked. Thank you very much.

I have seen this three times now, on Ubuntu. It has happened immediately after a LO upgrade, as part of the ‘Software Updater’ process, each time.

I had several ODT and ODS open before the upgrade. After the upgrade and a reboot, the usual document recovery dialogue did not appear, instead just having a new document presented. It’s like the upgrade causes a ‘–norestore’ 1st startup ???
