I can't load LO 7.something onto my Mac 10.13.6

I tried 7. whatever the latest is, and the one just before that release.
I have LO 3.6.something on my Mac already, but when I try to open LO 7, I get LO 3.
Do I need to uninstall LO 3 before LO 7 will open? I have stuff already in LO 3, and I’m a bit afraid to install it.

but when I try to open LO 7, I get LO 3

How do you try to open LO7? By double click on a LibreOffice file in Finder?

> I have stuff already in LO 3,

You don’t have stuff (files) in LibreOffice (regardless of the version). You create files and (hopefully) saved the files to directories in macOS to your hard drive (or some other storage device). And from there files won’t vanish until you delete 'em. Deleting an old version won’t delete saved files from storage devices. The only thing to keep in mind: If you are really still using LibreOffice version 3.x, your user profile is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/libreoffice/3/ while any other later version (v4.x, v5.x, v6.x, v7.x) stores the user profile to ~/Library/Application Support/libreoffice/4/ (yes, all use 4 - no typo here). This means: All settings you made within LibreOffice through LibreOffice -> Preferences, will be lost.

Further:
Now when I try to open LibreOffice_7.0.4_MacOS_x86-64.dmg I get the message, after watching the Verfying process go on, that it can’t be loaded. Do I need to upgrade my MacOS to something later?
