Where is the 'Table of contents' ability in Draw?

Good Day:

I have used Apache Open Office but have recently migrated to LibreOffice.

In M$ Word as well as in the LibreOffice Writer app I see there is a way to select Table of Contents (TOC) that uses heading paragraph styles to auto-populate a table of contents with a click of a button instead of all the manual work. This is great. However, for some layout projects I have chosen Draw as a more appropriate app to build a project in.

I have searched everywhere to see if I can find a similar TOC feature in Draw like the one in Writer. Does it exist? If not, can it be added in future releases?

Thanks again to everyone that has built this amazing piece of Software. Not only functional but stylish as well.

I also don’t know of any TOC functionality in in Draw and I can understand that. Draw is a drawing application and Writer is a text application.

Whenever I have complex drawings, I create them in Draw and copy & paste special as GDI-metafile into Writer. Then I anchor my drawings in writer to a paragrah and thus they flow with my text up and down. Maybe you can do it the same way.

Do you need, that Draw is able to use layers? If not, then Impress might be a more suitable tool for you. You have the same features in regard to drawing objects as in Draw (besides layers). But you have presentation objects in addition. From those there are two ways to get something similar to a TOC.

  • You can use the Outline-view on screen and in printing the option Document > Outline in the print dialog. The Title-objects of the slide will become a first level “heading” and the presentation objects “Outline” will become the further levels of “heading”.
  • You can use the feature “Insert > Summary slide” to generate a kind of TOC build from the Title-objects of the slides.
