Is it possible to create a new User Interface

I am developing some educational material for a specific target user base who will be using Impress.

It would simplify things if I could produce a customised UI for that cohort. I cannot find any guidelines or documentation for doing this.

Can anyone please assist me ?

Menus and toolbars can be customised to your taste with Tools>Customize.

Try to keep the keyboard shortcuts consistent with your new “UI” so that they remind users of the equivalent menu item. This can also be done in the same dialog.

Thanks ajlittoz,

I was aware of the ‘Customization’ functionality. I really was looking to create e new UI, or at lest that is what I want to emulate. I guess I could disable the routine toolbars and enable my own.

A further question, then, is how to save this configuration and invoke it at time of loading Impress ?

(I may put this as a question).

This is saved in the user profile and implicitly reloaded when you start any application of the suite. I don’t know exactly which directories and files are involved in the user profile and I don’t recommend fiddling with them.

If your concern is to set the same configuration on several computers for training, try copying your user profile to the other computers. Experiment with one “remote” comp but save the original profile first in case something goes wrong.

You can find the location of the user profile in Tools>Options, LibreOffice>Paths. On my Linux box, this is something like /home//.config/libreoffice/4/user/.
