The SHOW menu does not contain any option to select the basic view, just DIAS + one DIA with NOTES works. I reinstalled the latest software but the problem remains.

I have the Finnish UI having different names for the operations, but also Ctrl+F5 makes that both way (hide/show).
Ctrl+F5 is equivalent to View>Sidebar for the multi-view (properties, shapes, styles, gallery and navigator) at right-hand side of the window.
If you consider my answer was correct, click on the gray check mark at its top left to flag it as answered for community benefit. Click only once even if seemingly nothing happens.
The left-hand side thumbnails are displayed with View>Page Pane.
However, despite the fact you tagged draw, I am not sure you’re really talking about Draw. I wonder if you have Impress, the presentation application, in mind because Draw has no “notes”. In this case, edit your question to modify it and retag impress (press Enter twice to exit retag mode).
