LO won't run, I broke it

LO 1:6.1.5-3+rpi1+deb10u6+rpt1 on Raspberry Pi 4b

I’ve been trying to get charting straight in a calc spreadsheet and crashing LO several times a day for a week or two.

The last time LO calc hung for several minutes trying to restore, so I shutdown the GUI and restarted. Now LO won’t run at all.

I’ve tried renaming ~/.config/libreoffice. I’ve reinstalled the whole LO suite. No joy.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

No errors from the CL:

mike@RPI4b2:~> soffice
mike@RPI4b2:~>

Nor does anything show up in /var/log/messages or any of the other files in /var/log/.
~/.xsession-errors shows nothing about soffice

I’ve no experience with an strace dump and it’s c. 860 lines long, anything in particular I should look for?

Thanks,

Mike

Try starting LO from the command line and see if there are error messages.

I applied an old engineering solution. “When all else fails, get bigger hammer.”

root@RPI4b2:~> apt-get purge libreoffice*
root@RPI4b2:~> apt-get install libreoffice

Now LO calc runs again. I really need it because I’m using it for my taxes.

After the purge/re-install, calc didn’t run at first leading me to look at what was running and I found that soffice was still running from a previous attempt, pkilling that process allowed a new one to start.

It just may be that it’s failure to shutdown completely was the problem all along.

Gotta love computers.

Be well, Mike
