Problems with hyperlink in 4.2.0.4 Calc Windows 7

I have set up hyperlinks as shortcuts to move between detail and summary sheets which work ok but as soon as I save and exit then re-open when I mouse over the cell with the hyperlink, the actual address has been shortened to the last 4 characters which then gives me an error box with message Invalid Range eg ‘ctl +click to open hyperlink:#.Aug 13’ becomes ‘ctl + click to hyperlink:#.g 13’

Thanks

Is there really a dot after # ? Is the target the sheet name ? Or is it a named range, if yes what kind of name? I cannot reproduce your problem here.

Hi thanks for the help. I’ll explain the problem in a little more detail as an example, but I have managed to resolve the problem 2 different ways. Apologies if this turns out to be a bit long winded.

I have a summary sheet (called Summary) and a number of monthly detailed mileage sheets (eg Aug 13). The summary sheet has a formula referencing a cell on each of the detailed sheets as well as a cell which I want to use as a hyperlink to take me to the detailed sheet.

Clicking the hyperlink button on the menu bar, brings up a box where I click the button next to Target which brings up another box where I can pick the sheet that I want go to. I then put some text in the Further Settings - Text box and click Apply and it all seems to work ok but once I’ve saved, closed the file and then open the file again the mouse over message is shortened to the last 4 characters as I described above.

I’ve found 2 solutions: the first is to use the function hyperllink with the parameters as in one of the examples in the Help page for the hyperlink function. I also tried adding ‘.A1’ to the end of the sheet I selected using the Target button and this also works after saving, closing and re-opening.

Interestingly, using the hyperlink function you don’t get the ugly cell background colour you get eith the hyperlink button.

I don’t know if the above action is default or a bug but I closing and re-opening did cause the reproducible problems I outlined above. Given there is no drop down box or other to select a specific cell reference I’d assumed that it defaulted to A1.

Anyway its sorted now and hopefully will be amended to work as people might expect and/or people will find this solution.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer.
