When I imported an image, it's blank! Before, it could see the image in my Write doc

LibreOffice 6.4.6.2
on 2017 MacBook Pro, OS Catalina.

Also, add the format the file is saved : .odt pr .doc(x)?

How do you “import”? With Insert>Image or copy/paste?

What do you see? A placeholder or something else?

the files were .jpg and .jpeg.
In my doc I see a thin blue frame with the usual little corner-squares and it says Image1 top left. but no image. How? see my answer.

And what is the format of the document itself? .odt or .doc(x)?

Don’t forget to remove your non-answer.

Check in Tools>Options (maybe different under MacOS, perhaps under the Preferences menu), LibreOffice Writer>View the state of Images & objects in Display section. Box must be checked to display images. Otherwise, you only see a placeholder with image file name.

Yes! It was the state of Preferences>LOWriter>View>Display>Images andObjects.
