Conditional formatting duplicate values

how do I highlight duplicate values (here numbers) of one column A with two colors? One color for duplicate one for new addition? It should do that for the whole column A all numbers. Also how do I sort the bottom part of the spreadsheet by date of column E? When I try sorting it does nothing. I mark columns a-e and sort by column e (all dates, want it in ascending order). I have to compare two spreadsheets with numbers in colunm a which are daily updated. I usually copy paste the new spreadsheet info under the old one in one sheet and try to compare column a after sorting the new one by column e.

Without a look into your spreadsheet it is difficult to give you the right advice. You should have now enough karma to upload your file. Be careful about the content, this is a public forum.

Your statement “… sort the bottom part of the spreadsheet …” makes me wandering why you only want to sort the bottom part. One typically sorts a table by columns from top to bottom. However, there could be reason for your bottom part sorting and for this more explanations or an upload is needed.

Marking A-E and sorting by E (dates) sounds correct. Are you sure that all entries in E are dates? Did you make a small test (maybe 5 rows) in a separate spreadsheet to see if and how things are working?

“…daily updates…” I might try to use Base if daily updates and comparisons are needed.
