Remove auto generated parentheses by Draw from PDF

Hello,

I’m new to Libre and starting to use Draw to edit PDFs. I just uploaded a price list PDF, originally generated from Excel, that when opened in Draw has parentheses around the prices.

I’ll attach two photos so you can see the PDF vs. what it looks like in Draw.

How can I get rid of these parentheses? I’m going to have like 30+ pages on the final PDF with 13 lines per page so manually deleting them is not an option. Is there a setting I can change in Draw? Or do I have to adjust my number formatting in excel first?

Thanks!

Draw will not add anything on its own. I suppose the PDF was created by Excel. Are you sure the numbers are positive? Parentheses are commonly used to flag negative numbers. Check the format in Excel.

Maybe “adding” isn’t the right word. It formatted those parentheses in on its own. You can see they are not present on the excel, google sheet or pdf. I am aware parentheses can mean negative, and the numbers a not negative in any prior formats.

I was able to find/replace them but kind of an annoying step. Would prefer if there was a formatting solution going forward. Thanks!

If there are no parentheses in Excel or PDF, why are there parentheses in Draw? Please edit your question to attach the original PDF for detailed analysis. As said Draw is required to display faithfully PDFs. There is perhaps some strange markup it interprets erroneously.

Find / Replace “(” to “”. Repeat for “)”.

Not a perfect solution but works well enough. Would prefer the parentheses not show up at all.

Please remember that PDF is a mere digital print, there is no simple way to retro-engineer such file because they are NOT intended to be edited.
