files wont display once transfered

Hello,

my files i created on my desktop wont display right on my new laptop. I tried multiple ways to send them including just email.

They open but all of the words etc are jumbled and the font changed.

Any ideas? i even downloaded the same versions of libreoffice on the laptop as are on the desktop creating the files and it did not help. This is happening for draw and writer.

Click on Help > Restart in safe mode. When LibreOffice restarts, click continue in safe mode. Then try opening your files. If they open ok then you could try turning off hardware acceleration in Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View.

Your user profile might be corrupted so back up your user profile and reset to factory settings. You will lose backup, templates, wordbook and some other user data. So best to copy your user folder to elsewhere and copy needed folders back to the new user profile.

Thanks Earnest,

I restarted in safe mode and the problem persists, I also found the setting for the user profile, reset that and i still have the same problems… Any other ideas?

Have you got the same fonts installed on your laptop? If the original document font are not available LO might have substituted unsuitable fonts.

Are the user interface and language settings the same as on the desktop, Tools > Options > Language Settings > Languages? (Replace Tools > Options with LibreOffice - Preferences on your Mac OS main menu

That was it!!! I did not have the same font on the laptop.

Thank you so much!!! it was such an easy fix. I just copied all of my desktop fonts over and it displays perfectly now.

I didn’t realize that i had picked up some other fonts from somewhere and they were not part of windows 10.

Much appreciated Earnest!!!

Google fonts have many public domain fonts, it can save problems with licensing issues. There are also some fonts for Linux installations that also have open licensing
