Can't use calc file

ubuntu 20.04; Libreoffice Calc.

I am unable to open/use the file. When I click on it, nothing happens.

Also, you will see in that view when I right click on the Calc icon it does not look normal; the icon is “shriveled” rather than showing a thumbnail of the file.

Clicking on it fails to enlarge the file and basically nothing happens. Note that this problem suddenly popped up, I didn’t have any problems with the same file yesterday. And, it’s not just one file… it’s any file I try to open.

(Edit: activated screenshot -AK)

It turns out that the files were shrunk down to the size of a hair. I was able to grab the window handles and expand. Problem solved.

Note that I also found in syslog:

May 3 15:25:52 yellow libreoffice-calc.desktop[33425]: javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
May 3 15:25:52 yellow libreoffice-calc.desktop[33425]: Please ensure that a JVM and the package libreoffice-java-common
May 3 15:25:52 yellow libreoffice-calc.desktop[33425]: is installed.
May 3 15:25:52 yellow libreoffice-calc.desktop[33425]: If it is already installed then try removing ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/config/javasettings_Linux_*.xml
May 3 15:25:52 yellow libreoffice-calc.desktop[33410]: Warning: failed to read path from javaldx

So I installed the package mentioned but it failed to populate inside libreoffice (Tools>Base>Advanced I think) even after restarting. It didn’t seem to have any effect on the problem. That’s when I noticed the thin line appear instead of the expected window. I grabbed it with the mouse and expanded it. The “shriveled” look went away and it returned to the expected thumbnail. I have to do this for each calc file. I don’t know what caused this.
