Libre is not working when clicking on new document, text. The page comes up with the last doc I worked on. I have deleted this document and also have closed it numerous times.

I suspect that OP had saved the previous document as template, and made it the default…
If, as suggested above by Mike Kaganski, you have saved your document as as template, and as the Default template, it is easy to fix.
In Writer, click File > Templates > Manage Templates (shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+N), in the dialog box that opens scroll down your templates until you see one with a green tick beside it. Right-click on that template and select Reset Default. You could at this point delete the template assuming you no longer need it. Close the dialog box.
Create a new document and it should be the default blank one you had originally. Cheers, Al
