How can I prevent LibreOffice from inserting tilde marks into my text; they print out and ruin my texts, causing me to highlight them and delete them one by one.

In the bottom right of your screen, next to the date, there might be an icon labelled something like ENG US, click on it and see if the keyboard you are actually using matches what it says there.

Otherwise, I would be inclined to look in AutoCorrect entries for something with the tilde. What triggers the tilde entry?

You said you “highlight them and delete them one by one”. Why not use Find and Replace (ctrl-H), and then “replace all”?

Even a long paragraph showing the tilde marks you are getting might help people help you.
