Printing and print preview in black & white only

Over the last few years I have created several spreadsheets using MS office 97, and I have used quite a bit of colour-coding and background colouring to make them easier on the eye when in use. One useful feature of Office was that I could specify that print previews and printouts would be in black & white to save colour ink. Is there any way Libreoffice can do this ? I’ve looked but can’t seem to find a way.

I would do:
File > Printer set-up > select your printer > Properties > the printer menu opens up; select black&white
Doing so the setting sticks with file.

In case I want to print out most of my files monochrome/black&white I would make my printer’s default setting to black&white.

The Help function of LibO provides more information:
Help > LibreOffice Help or F1 > Find > Search term “black” > Enter > select Printing in Blac & White"

There is also Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Print > Convert colors to grayscale. This, however, does not affect the Page Preview. Notice the term “Page Preview” instead of “Print Preview” (in some versions of MS Office). It would be a decent feature request to ask for the preview to more closely resemble the actual printout, like in the little preview in the print dialog. Disclaimer: I haven’t tested the colour converting feature with an actual printer.

Alex you’ve marked this as being the correct solution, but it doesn’t apply to LibreOffice CALC! The menu options don’t even exist in the latest version of Calc! If LO doesn’t support this option, at least tell people so that they can either work around the lack of functionality, or use a product that does.
