Changing colors in options not working

I have been using Calc recently (still new to it). I have used the appearance options to try and set colors on comments (mainly).

Any time I change ANY color in the appearance options, they save the option, but do not change any of the colors. This includes upon saving the file and exiting/re-opening the program/file.

Am I missing something, or does this program hate me?

Errata: My wife was the one who did the installs. I’m 95% sure they are both the most recent versions, which I believe is 4.1 on LIBO and 7.something for zorin.

Could you please report in detail which steps you made, which LibO version and OS you are using?
This information lets other to understand the problem better and enables a solution.

It’s hard to understand if you don’t describe the exact steps that produce the error. Every detail can matter. For example: 1) Open a new Calc document 2) Open Tools > Options etc.

Also note that even if you change the colour of comments, it won’t change the colour of existing comments in documents that aren’t open at that time, because every comment has a background colour value that can be manipulated individually and is saved with the document.

Is there a way to change all existing comment background colors without having to individually do it? This is my main problem, all the comments that are there need to be changed.

Yeah, calc cell background color doesn’t seem to work either.

Note that under Tools > Options… > LibreOffice > Appearance only those options under the “General”, “Spreadsheet”, and “Basic Syntax Highlighting” sections will affect appearance in Calc. As the comments by others suggest, you do not indicate which options are being altered or to what values.
