Your answer to "How do I change the default settings in LibreOffice Write? [closed]" DOES NOT WORK.

Your answer to “How do I change the default settings in LibreOffice Write? [closed]” DOES NOT WORK. The font is set for 14 point as you instructed, but every new document opens in 12 point. Why does LibreOffice make what should be a trivial setting so difficult?

At least link to that answer please.

Please do not use the Answer field, edit your original question to provide further details. Thanks.

Your answer…

Who is that “Your” (could be you as well)?

This site is not a forum. You should have complained in a comment to the solution. This would have sent notifications to the question contributors.

Why don’t newcomers read the Writer Guide first to discover the differences against other suites. Writer is much more organized and consistent configuration-wise than many other suites. It is not “so difficult” but different.

So little information, see Ask/Getting Started.

Is it How do I change the default settings in Libre Office Write? closed? If you change the Default Font to 14 points then new documents will open with 14 point font.

If changing the setting does not work for you then:

  • maybe you have set a template to be
    the default template: edit that
template instead in File > Manage templates. Or right-click it and select Reset Default to stop it being the default
  • You are selecting a template with defined sizes already: Modify the Default Paragraph style for that template
  • Maybe you have a corrupted user profile. Test in LibreOffice Safe Mode: click
Help > Restart in Safe Mode and see if a new document opens in 14
    point.
