Link automatically updating styles to a template

Does LibreOffice have any sort of functionality to link documents to a template, or to update documents that have been created based on a template when the template changes. This is best explained with an example: If I create a template with all my styles in it, and then I decide I want to modify some of the styles in the template after I have already created a number of documents using that template, is there a way to automatically update styles in the documents that are based on the template?

I hope this is clear

Place your template in a folder, which is described Path-Templates (Tools-Options-LibreOffice-Paths). This is most easily done by opening the template for editing and choose File-Templates-Save.
Documents created on the basis of this template will contain the name of the template in their properties (File-Properties, bottom line on the General tab).
When you open a document, the office suite check the styles in the template and the document and, if discrepancies are found, propose to update the styles in the document.

Does the template have to be saved in the templates path or will this work wherever the template is? (Edit: Oops sorry just read the link which answers the question).
