How do I total a column in spreadsheet

Simple I just want to be able to get the total of a column which I have done some time ago. Neil

LibreOffice Help - SUM (e.g. SUM(A:A) calculates the sum of all values in column A - of course in this case the formula cannot be in any cell of column A)

Are your tags confusing - Writer? Addon? And why are the cat and the bird here?

Assuming that you are referring to a table in Writer, then click in the cell at the bottom of the column that you want to total and press = on the keyboard. A formula bar will open below the normal toolbars, click the fx symbol and select Sum. Drag down over all the cells in the column that you want to total, you will see a formula in your selected cell something like =sum <B1:B3>. You can edit the addresses manually if needed. Press Enter.

If you need to edit the formula, say because you added a row, click in the formula cell and press F2. As you can see, unlike Calc, the formula is not updated if a row is added or deleted.

I have a similar problem in Calc… Normally I can highlight rows end extend the selection by one column to the right, hit epsilon, and the sum of each row appears on the column I highlighted to the right. But now epsilon is nowhere to be found. Where did it go, and how do I get it back?

epsilon

Do you mean Σ(which is a Greek Sigma)?
