How can I view recent LibreOffice write documents

I am looking for the Libre equivalent of the “file” “open” sequence on Word

Try File | Recent Documents, or the dropdown arrow next to the File-Open icon. That will show a (limited) list of all file types recently opened.

The LibreOffice is one (single, uniform ) integrated office suite. There is not standalone applications like the Word, Excel, etc… The Applications of the LO use many common things (for example: the soffice.bin executable, the recent list, and many others)

Therefore you can view all type of recent documents in the Recent Documents list in all of the applications. See:
File - Recent Documents

You can adjust the count of the documents in the recent list - somewhere in the deep settings.
