I use Windows vista and have been trying all day to download LibreOffice. What am I doing wrong?

Download failure.

There is this pesky issue with vista and win7 that prevents downloads of executables.
Microsoft appears to refuse to resolve it.

Basically, in shows up during the end of a install when update settings. The error messages ae real low level (Hresult - 0x8007xxxx) that basically says that the file in play does not have proper credentials.

Work around appears to be along the lines of hacking the registry

this happens with a variety of prominent applications…google sketchup, windows update, etc

I’ve also been trying to download Libre Office without success using Win7. The file downloads ok, but when trying to unzip it, I just keep getting error messages that the file is corrupt. However the help pack (which uses the same file type) downloads and unzips just fine. I’ve tried using different browsers and different mirrors but keep getting the same error message when trying to unzip the main file. Even tried to download via torrent but it didn’t help. I can’t imagine anyone with Win7 getting the file to work if I can’t after all the time and workarounds I’ve tried. I’ve never had a problem downloading anything else, so that puts the ball back in Libre’s court, I think.

Have you tried to run the install with administrator rights?.
Right click the file, and select run as administrator.

If it doesn’t work, try deactivating the UAC (User Access Control).
