I've been quite aggravated by a white flash that plays before videos in my Impress presentations. I have a large number of fullscreen black background videos, so the white flash is actually painful. This desperately needs to be fixed.

There's an open bug regarding this issue here. It seems this is going to take some time before a fix is made available, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a workaround. I've tried a number of things like shrinking the video, using different compression, trying other computers, and using more recent versions of LibreOffice, all to no avail. Erm, help?

I'm using Impress on Ubuntu 12.04, but newer versions are fine. Happy to patch the source code if necessary, too.
