I find this bug in DOCX importing quite serious, but I am really suprised that so little is done to correct it. When opening from DOCX, text saved in shapes or textboxes is not wrapped inside the box. Example of this problem is shown here:

I reported the bug, but it would help if you can test and confirm this bug so it could be solved as soon as possible.

You can see my results in this screengrab. Ubuntu 14.04; LibO Version: 4.2.3.3 Build ID: 420m0(Build:3). Compare: result in Word (Win7; Word 2010). FWIW.

Also compare: RTF in LibO and (!!) DOC in LibO = perfect!! + last experiment: DOC saved as ODT and re-opened . :)

Thank you David. DOC is really perfect for such think, but the problem appears when you receive something originally in DOCX :)

@Ljiljan - yes, just so. I find the same with footnotes (the issue with DOCX files I get). IF one has access to Word still, then conversion to older DOC format is a "workaround" until the DOCX import is as good as DOC ... should that day ever come! ;)

I hope that LibreOffice 4.3. will improve this significantly (I read somewhere that one part of new code is written for DOCX, but can't remember what exactly it was about). Improvement in DOCX is evident, but I just can't figure out why these obvious problems are not fixed... probably people are not using shapes in Word that much :)

@Ljiljan, thanks for reporting the bug. Under Debian 7 x86_64 running v4.3.0.2 the attachment now renders as expected:

Correctly rendered diagram

This aspect of OOXML support appears to have been improved between v4.2.5.2 and v4.3.x.
