Saving as PDF (from odt embedded in pdf)

So I really like that i can export an odt as a pdf with the said odt embedded inside. this allows for static documents that everyone can easily read, but also allows me to edit them if necessary, from the same file. However if i open a pdf with an embedded odt, it will open fine but i can’t save the file? I can only save as. Also when i re-export the revision won’t increment. so ya. is there a way to do this:
open odt embedded in pdf

  1. edit it
  2. increment the revision
  3. save it

without doing this:

  1. open odt embedded in pdf
  2. edit
  3. save open odt
  4. export to pdf with embedded odt
  5. open pdf with embedded odt
  6. export to pdf with embedded odt again, so file type shows up as pdf.

Unfortunately I think the option you want is not available. Reason: Right at the beginning you do not safe in pdf-format but export as pdf-format. Therefore you need to go always the second way you mentioned.

The only shorter way I can imagine is that you could possibly skip saving in odt-format before exporting it. Please test this possibility carefully!!!

You must understand that in reality those are 2 separate files even if they are stored together. After you edit the ODF you need to create a new static image. Otherwise your document will be different from the image displayed.

What you are asking is a new feature. Maybe it is possible to add an option that handles ODF+PDF in such a way that saving the ODF also updates the PDF but that is not currently possible in a single step.
